MCE Announces 250GB Hard Drive Upgrade Solution for MacBook Pro and MacBookMCE Technologies, LLC (MCE) announces the MobileStor Performance™ line of hard drive upgrade solutions for the MacBook Pro and MacBook with capacities starting at 100GB and reaching 250GB. Along with a high-performance, high-capacity 2.5” SATA hard drive, each MCE MobileStor Performance™ hard drive upgrade solution includes an external, portable 2.5” SATA enclosure with both eSATA and USB 2.0 interfaces facilitating easy data transfer from the original drive, SuperDuper! cloning/backup software, all tools required for installation, and an illustrated installation manual. MobileStor Performance™ prices range from $129 for the 100GB/7200 RPM model to $279 for the 250GB/5400RPM model. All capacities of the MobileStor Performance™ line are shipping today except the 250GB model which is scheduled to ship June 1. “The MobileStor Performance™ total hard drive upgrade solution provides not only unprecedented hard drive capacities for the MacBook Pro and MacBook, but also provides every single piece of equipment necessary to successfully complete the hard drive upgrade and transfer all information from the original drive to the new one. The MCE MobileStor Performance™ Hard Drive Upgrade Solution for the MacBook Pro and MacBook features ultra-high performance SATA drives with the following capacities and rotational speeds: 100GB/7200RPM, 120GB/7200RPM, 160GB/5400RPM, 160GB/7200RPM, and 250GB/5400RPM. All drives feature maximum sustained data transfer rates of at least 66MB/sec and burst transfer rates of at least 150MB/sec. The drives also features Native Command Queing (NCQ) in which the drive automatically reorders commands in the most efficient way based on the location of data on its platters in order to retrieve that data with the least latency. S.M.A.R.T. status monitoring is also supported among all drives and can warn of possible or impending disk failure long before one actually occurs allowing the user to take early action to keep their data safe. The drives’ S.M.A.R.T. status can be verified using Apple’s Disk Utility or System Profiler program. The included portable, external 2.5” SATA enclosure is bootable on all Intel Macs and features a unique screwless design for easy installatioin of the original drive. The enclosure provides both eSATA and USB 2.0 interfaces for easy data transfer from the original drive to the new one using the included SuperDuper! cloning/backup software.
